The Escuela de Artes Plásticas y Diseño de Puerto Rico originated at the Art Workshops of the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture, and have managed to become a university center dedicated to Art and Design, without losing sight of the workshop tradition of its origins.
In this Website, we provide you with information on the study programs. The Escuela de Artes Plásticas y Diseño de Puerto Rico offers bachelor’s degrees in visual arts in seven Major concentrations: Printmaking, Design and Digital Art, Art Education, Sculpture, Painting, Industrial Design and Fashion Design. We also serve the community at large with courses and art and design workshops for adults, youths, and children, through our Extension Program. The Faculty is composed of professional artists and designers recognized at national and international level. With have excellent physical facilities, with the best-equipped workshops and Learning Resource Center, in a privileged location in Old San Juan. Our mission’s achievements are evident in the professional success of our graduates.

The Escuela de Artes Plásticas y Diseño de Puerto Rico is licensed by the Council of Higher Education of Puerto Rico and accredited by the Commission of Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools (MSCHE) and is member of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD) of the United States of America.
The School of Visual Arts and Design’s headquarters are in the former Lunatic Asylum on the grounds El Morro Castle. In addition, the campus comprises the restored Hospital of the Concepcion, the Great, within the same Ballajá Quarter.
