Mission

The Escuela de Artes Plásticas y Diseño de Puerto Rico’s endeavor is to form professionals in the Fine Arts, Design, and Art Education, by means of an education that stimulates creativity, humanistic development, and visual culture.

Goals

The Escuela de Artes Plásticas y Diseño de Puerto Rico proposes to fulfill its mission by fully accomplishing the following goals, within a framework of the fullest academic freedom and artistic exploration: To offer study programs at university level, addressed at developing the Visual Arts by teaching artistic techniques, which stimulate the cognitive and humanistic development of students. To strive for students' comprehensive education, based on their responsibility to serve nationally and universally. To contribute to the cultural and artistic development of the community through a program of short courses, seminars, workshops, and an Open Study Program, to different groups of the population. To fully develop students’ latent intellectual and spiritual wealth, so that they may use it to serve Puerto Rican society. To collaborate with entities from other fields in our society, in studying and promoting cultural activities. To preserve, enrich, and spread Puerto Rican cultural values with a critical vision and add to the refinement and enjoyment of culture’s ethical and aesthetic values. Vision

The Escuela de Artes Plásticas y Diseño aspires at becoming the most prestigious center of Higher Education in Fine Arts and Design in the Caribbean. Dedicated to artistic creation and expression, it combines in an optimum form the education in traditional workshop skills with experimentation and exploration of contemporary languages, and the use of technology.

Expected Position in the Future

The Escuela de Artes Plásticas y Diseño de Puerto Rico, envisions itself as an institution of specialized higher education, with a variety of academic offerings. It will continue raising its levels of institutional quality centered on the educational process and the development of student’s creativity. With a growing enrollment of promising talents, it will pledge to develop, affirm, and transmit the ethical and esthetical values of contemporary art visions, with emphasis on the study of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean, and its relation to multiple disciplines of universal culture.
